This was a quickie for me so I could meet up with some buddies. A. 3×20 @ 32k each side. Was challenging was I think I could have pressed more. B. DU and KB is in my wheel house so I gotta 7 rounds with 53# hard style “America “ swings. I did the man makers I know, which includes a push up, two renegade rows, and a cluster. Worked with 30# dB. 3 rounds because man makers suck. It’s rainkng here and I work out in an outdoor facility. Couldn’t kip much so my t2b were strict-ish. 10 rounds,… Read more »

Way off script this week. Took a full rest day yesterday as I am physically exhausted. Today I spent a bit over an hour just stretching, mobility, shoulder rehab, rolling out, and mashing my tired achy bi’s and tri’s. Kinda felt like I was hit by a truck, but after today’s session I feel a little better. I wanted to take a few days off after the Open and just hadn’t gotten around to it…lol…so for the weekend I’ll just take it one day at a time and see how I feel and do what feels good. You all are… Read more »

My shoulder has been doing the same since 18.1 and I didn’t even do 18.1! What are you doing to address the issue? I’ve been able to do pull-ups in the supinated grip but not pronated. I had to say it, but a 3-day cycle of anti-inflammatories really helped as well. I waited to do that for a couple weeks to try other options first though. Otherwise I’ve been trying to mobilize my pecs.

Unfortunately this type of shoulder problem is a bit new to me, so I am doing a lot of trial and error. My pain started the last time we bench pressed (3 weeks ago?) and seemed to be where my collar bone connects. It has been off and on since and sometimes is totally fine like in 18.5 where I got 102 reps pain free (standard kipping C2B) and sometimes miserable like on Monday’s WOD where I felt like it was going to fall off afterwards (butterfly PUs). Other than icing every night and taking the occasional Aleve, I am… Read more »

Update from my Chiro today. He feels that it is a repetitive strain injury likely caused by throwing too many fastballs at 8 year olds. Apparently the bursa + tendon is irritated/inflamed, especially with internal rotation type movements (i.e. pitching, pronated grip pull ups, etc.). He recommended icing with an ice cup so that I could massage and manipulate the area to help break up the inflammation.

A) Not time restricted: build to 5 Heavy Deadlifts. In kgs: 100, 110, 120, 130, 140(PR). I could have gone a bit heavier but decided to stop on 140 which is a 5 kgs PR for my 5RM. P to the R Star!!!

I still owe you an email but another option for HSPU for reaching your goal is to do barbell presses but not from the front rack on the shoulders. Instead, hold it out front of you so your elbows are at 90 degrees (same position as you would be in a HSPU but not upside down) and press from there. I will send a video with my notes in the email.
