Today is off as will be over the next several weeks. I will fly to Seattle today for another jaw surgery on Tuesday. Resulting from a horrific cycling accident (me against the ford pick-up) years ago. 11 months ago, my jaw was surgically broken into 8 sections and rebuilt. Bone was taken from my hip and grafted into my jaw. Tuesday, they will remove the titanium plates and screws from the lower jaw. Ah, I will be able to chew real food again! They will also “clean up” the bone grafts adding more material to smooth everything out. Being me,… Read more »

Hi Nichole, Surgery is over! Should be the last one. Everything went really well according to the oral surgeon. Bleeding stopped in the early hours of the morning today which is a good sign. Bleeding went on for a few weeks after the first surgery. Face is really swollen but the minor hardware is out. Bone grafts were built up. Now I can go and get some power cleans in….just kidding. I have been doing the mobility portion of each day’s WOD. Back home on Friday and then I will get after it ramping things up over a few weeks… Read more »

What is going on with the shoulders?

Bob Frey
Bob Frey
September 9, 2017 6:25 am

Bursitis in shoulders, Tendonitis in both biceps and elbows. Not everything fires them up but once it does it like i literally cannot lift a thing. The upright row movment in the snatch is killer. Then the hard turnover fires up the backside of my shoulders along with handstand pushups. All the things i used to be strong at are gone atm. Very frustrating but it is making be better at the things i hate by pushing thru my weaknesses. Like cycling fs , wally balls, thrusters.

Did it fire up with the FS or the HSPU? That is a tough combo if you are dealing with back issues because going upside down could put you slightly in an over extended position and that could cause some back issues.

I won’t be doing this until tomorrow, but have two questions on part D. For the front squats, do I clean the weight or take the bar off a rack? I can do strict HSPUs with one abmat. Should I do that or is it better to do the seated DB presses for full range of motion?
