February 15, 2018 – Masters Open Prep Program

Every athlete needs to assess how they are feeling today. Assess how your body has responded to Monday-Wednesdays sessions and either do the following:

1 – Take a full rest day.

If this is the option you choose, then you are not allowed to feel guilty for not going into the gym. Resting is crucial to advancement in your training so if you choose to rest then have no regrets!
2 – Mobilize. Use your regular training time to mobilize. Find your problem areas and spend some time focusing on those areas.
3 – Active Recovery. This could be swimming (you can find our free swim workouts on our Competition blog every Thursday), doing a trail run, a low intensity row session or a 30 minute tempo run. Whatever activity you choose to do should be a restorative activity and not deplete you for the remaining week of training.

Open Schedule Note:
We will be scheduling the Open workouts on Friday and then on Monday for those of you who’d like to do the workout twice. With this schedule, you’ll complete the Open workout on Friday, have a regular training day on Saturday, rest on Sunday, then do the Open workout again on Monday. This is the best option for those of you looking to be your best during the Open.

I did last Saturday’s AMRAP7: 10 Pwr Snatches and 3 BMU’s.
Got to 6 rounds and was feeling ok. I think I should have pushed a bit harder, but its a recovery day…no regrets.
Rested 5min’s and then did yesterdays EMOM! Oh man that thing was tough!
Hang Snatches and push-ups only round 1, from then on only the 5 Hang Snatches…
TTB+10DU’s, TTB last two sets ended with singles and no DU’s
DB burpee box step overs…sllooowwww! Last two sets only 4 reps!
Will have to redo/retest this one!

Didn’t feel good yesterday evening, so did yesterday’s EMOM this morning, Allen uB:

Hang Snatch + push-up 23-26 seconds.
Toes to bar + DU 25-27 seconds
DB burpee box jump over 27-30 seconds

Nice EMOM. Hardest part was going from dB burpees to snatch.
