Proper Position for the Hang Snatch
Video by Hunter Britt
Last week, I did a video about the proper high hang position. This week, I would like to go over the proper hang position, or mid-thigh position. This position is great as it allows an athlete to focus on making sure their weight is distributed properly with good engagement from the lats.
The hang position can help bring to focus these things:
- Properly loading the hamstrings
- Weight in the mid-foot
- Lats are engaged to ensure that the bar stays close during the lift
A common fault with athletes is missing the correct weight distribution though the feet and not finishing the 2nd pull. Both of these will cause an athlete to get off balance and, in most cases, miss the bar forward. I identify a few more points of performance in the video above.
