Invictus Athlete – 2018 CrossFit Games Final Recap
Written by C.J. Martin

It is hard to even say how proud we are of our Invictus Teams and everyone who competed and gave it their all in some greuling events.

What can I say about Invictus X

Finishing the weekend as the 2nd Fittest Team on earth, Invictus X started off strong and finished even stronger. They ended the Games with a 2nd and 1st place finish in the Running Bob and Lunging Worm workouts – showing how much they deserved that Silver medal.

Invictus Back Bay Boston had a strong showing…

In just their first year competing under the Invictus umbrella, Back Bay Boston put up several impressive performances. They earned a 1st place finish in the 1RM Snatch, AND the Bob Sprint. Talk about a team who is always ready to compete! Team Invictus had several heat wins and showed that they are real workhorses able to get the job done!

And our Individual Invictus Athletes also continued to shine.

Kristin Holte started off the CrossFit Games by winning the Crit…an event nobody saw coming. With two more 2nd place finishes, Kristin wrapped up the Games in an impressive 7th place.

Kristi Eramo also had a great Games appearance. She edged out the reigning champ in 30 Muscle-Ups for time – getting her first career Games win! Did anyone catch Camille Leblanc-Bazinet’s 1st place finish in the Bicouplet 2 event? Go rewatch it – see her sheer determination and competitiveness.

A huge shout-out to rookie Games competitor Camilla Solomonsson Hellman for 3 top ten places, and several heat wins for her first time at the Games! We’re always proud of Lauren Fisher – did you see her HUGE CrossFit Total?

Rasmus Andersen came back to the Games with a mission. He had 7 top ten finishes – with a 1st in the Bicouplet 1 event….#bignastics. He ended the weekend in 8th overall! Alex Anderson is always a consistent competitor – he proved so getting 3rd in Chaos and heat wins in both Bicouplet events.

Jared Enderton – do we dare call him ‘Rookie of the Year?’ This guy was a relatively unexpected Games qualifier, came to the Games and proved he was meant to be there. He is always fun to watch compete – ESPECIALLY in those strength events. 2nd in the Clean & Jerk Speed Ladder and 5th in CrossFit Total. Did you know Jared was 300 lbs 10 years ago?

Our Invictus Teen Athletes show that they are here to stay! Nolan Pedrick earned himself a spot on the podium – placing 3rd in the Teen Boys 14-15 division. This kid is promising! He had 5 top five finishes! Another teen athlete, Devyn Kim already has 3 years of Games experience! She came in 4th with 5 top five performances!

Our Invictus Masters Athletes never cease to amaze us. Karen McAdam placed 4th this year – with 5 top five finishes. Ana Caldas placed 1st in the Open Water Swim and Aida Koepplinger got 2nd in the Jump Finish! Beth Spearman also put up several impressive performances in her second time at the Games!

Ever consistent, Brent Maier ended the weekend in 4th overall, with 5 top five performances! Marcie Wells placed 4th getting 1st in the Battleground event. In his 3rd appearance at the Games, Jeff Dempsy had a great showing with 2 top five performances. Chris Stamper also with several impressive events, including 1st in Jump Finish and 2nd in the Handstand Walk events.

Matt Beals comes back year after year – owning the Open Water Swim with 1st! In her 4th Games appearance, Debbie Downing ended with 4 top ten finishes. Rookie Masters competitor, Cindy Kane [with a 145lb overhead squat] got a feel for what competing at the Games level is like – and made Invictus Sorrento Valley proud! John Marriotti is a Games veteran – making that known with 2 second place finishes! Litsa Olsson also had a great Games – with 5 top ten performances!
