Harrison Maurus, an amazing youth Olympic weightlifter and an exceptional young man, is coached by our good friend and former Invictus Athlete, Kevin Simons. He recently set a huge U17 Youth American Record with his 145kg snatch. Check out this awesome write up by our friends at Hookgrip:
16 year-old Harrison MaurusĀ (-77kg) snatching 145kg/320lb to set a huge U17 Youth American Record — he came into the competition already owning the record with a 137kg lift from this past April. He also C&Jed 176kg to set a 1kg C&J record and totaled 321kg to set a 14kg total record — and placing in 2nd at the Youth Worlds. While Harrison often gets overshadowed because of CJ Cummings being so dominant in the 69kg class, Harrison is arguably the second best youth lifter in American weightlifting history and has huge potential.
