Fun with Furniture Sliders – Inchworms
Written by Michele Vieux
Are you limited on space, equipment or time? Need some ideas for travel workouts? Or maybe you’re just looking for something new to incorporate into your routine. Behold, the furniture slider! It’s not just for moving furniture anymore! These babies are inexpensive, take up only a sliver of space in a suitcase, and pack a punch when it comes to the things you can do with them.
Today’s exercise is the Furniture Slider Inchworm. Inchworms are normally used as a warm-up for the shoulders and hamstrings but adding in the slider forces you to focus on your hollow body and midline as well as contracting the quads when bringing your feet to your hands. You will need two sliders for this drill – here’s how to set it up.
Step 1: Start in a standing position with a furniture slider under each foot. You will be on the balls of your feet in this set-up. Try to keep your legs straight as you bend down to put your hands on the floor.
Step 2: Keeping your feet where they are for the moment, walk your hands out in front of you so you are in a perfect push-up or plank position.
Step 3: Drag your feet to your hands by sending your hips up into a pike position. You will need to activate your midline and glutes to do this without “kipping” into the position. Your hips should never drop.
Amazon.com sells 4-packs of the large sliders for $10 so this is a cost-effective solution for equipment. Stay tuned for more Fun with Furniture Sliders in the upcoming weeks!
Furniture sliders are a great way to add some fun and character to your home. Not only do they add a little pizzazz with their colorful patterns, but they also give you more space on your furniture. You can use them on all types of furniture: from the dining room table to the bedroom dresser, from the bookshelf to the bedside table. Well, I would also like to read an article about poker rooms in Atlantic City because I always have fun in things like that before playing poker games for the sake of earning money.
