Effort

How important is effort in training?

Many top level CrossFitters claim that all you need is a good form, a few training partners and to “hit the workout as hard as possible” in order to make progress. I completely agree with this philosophy; yes, of course, if you want to optimize your time in the gym, you should be doing the right program for YOU, but that is another article entirely.

During my years of coaching, I have seen the success of many people who “get after” their training day-in and day-out. These people make spectacular progress in a seemingly very short timeframe. On the other hand, I have seen people who are doing the right program, with good form and training partners, but who just “go through the motions” in the gym. The fact is, they don’t make the same progress as those who may not have the other aspects in perfect harmony but who GO HARD! At the end of the day, if you are putting in your best effort every time you step into the gym, you will get better.

Take a look at yourself and think about your training effort. Are you giving the effort you are capable of? If you need some ideas to help take your training to the next level check out “The Invictus Mindset: An Athlete’s Guide To Mental Toughness” eBook.
