Your 2016 Regionals Check List
Written by Nichole DeHart
We are just one week away from the start of the 2016 CrossFit Regionals! This is an exciting time of year and an opportunity for many to head to their Regionals and watch their affiliate, friends and training partners compete for a qualifying spot to the CrossFit Games!
To make your experience as enjoyable as possible, we have created this checklist to guide you through your Regionals as a spectator!
As a spectator, here are some informative tidbits to help you at Regionals:
Hotel and Carpooling
Most Regionals locations will be a drive from your home. Make sure to book well enough in advance your hotel since the hotels near the Regionals site get booked quickly. Try to carpool since almost all Regional location venues will charge for parking.
Packing and Pre-Regionals Prep
You are going to be packed into seats with a ton of people throughout the day so please WEAR DEODORANT! This should be a no brainer but I feel like I need to say it from past experiences.
Also wear your most comfortable shoes. You will be doing some sitting in between heats but most of the day will consist of standing on your feet or walking around for what feels like miles in search of food.
Bring snacks if the venue allows outside food. There should be food vendors at Regionals but, just in case you don’t want to wait in line or would like to have something in between meals, bring some easily packed foods like:
- Nuts
- Perfect Food Bars
- Squeezable Fruit/Veggie Packs
- Fruit
Hydration and keeping cool is going to be a big factor in how much you enjoy the weekend. We recommend that you pack refillable bottles and purchase some kind of electrolyte tablets to drop into your water, such as Nuun (if you are at a sunny Regionals). Rehydrate frequently!
Pack some cash, but don’t worry about running out. Most vendors and concessions will take credit cards and there should be ATMs at your venue.
Tickets
If you have not purchased your tickets yet then do so now! Go to games.crossfit.com and scroll down to the right side of the page to purchase your Regionals tickets. You can purchase a 1 day ticket for $30 or a 3-day admission ticket for $75.
If you can’t make it to Regionals then make sure to watch the live stream on the CrossFit Games site. Keep your eyes out for a schedule to be released shortly so you can mark down the times when your favorite athletes and teams are competing!
