March 7, 2016 – Invictus Athlete

PROGRAM NOTES – On Monday’s during the Open, we generally have three different scenarios that we’re dealing with:
(1) You will be performing the Open workout for the second attempt on Monday. If this is you, follow the plan set forth for last Friday – warm-up, Open event, cool down. If you want some additional work, my suggestion is that you hit a low to moderate intensity run or Assault Bike session. Look to spend 20-40 minutes moving at a pace that feels sustainable. Use the time to clear your mind as well as aid in recovery.
(2) You performed the Open event on Friday and Sunday. If this is you, follow either today’s or Saturday’s workout – the one you missed because you were resting up to repeat the Open on Sunday – and take them at an intensity that is reasonable based on how you’re feeling.
(3) You were “one and done” with the Open on Friday, or don’t really care how you rank in the Open. If this is you, perform the following…but listen to your body! If you’re sore or tight anywhere, I would strongly suggest avoiding any movement or loading that could potentially exacerbate the issue.

Session One

online pharmacy buy zovirax with best prices today in the USA

A.
Front Squat
*Set 1 – 5 reps @ 60%
*Set 2 – 5 reps @ 70%
*Set 3 – 5 reps @ 75%
*Set 4 – 4 reps @ 80%
*Set 5 – 4 reps @ 85%
Rest 2-3 minutes between sets

B.
Build to today’s 2-RM Hang Snatch

Drop back down to 65%, and then…

Build to today’s 1-RM Snatch

Make jumps of 5-10 lbs as you build loads. The goal should be to accumulate volume of PERFECT repetitions from the various positions as you build to your heaviest loads. Please understand that “today’s 1-RM” may not mean your lifetime PR. The purpose is productive training, so keep the focus on good mechanics, and push only when it feels good to do so. If your mechanics start to breakdown, you have achieved “heavy” for the day.

C.
Complete as many rounds and reps as possible in 10 minutes of:
Row 50 Calories
10 Muscle-Ups

Session Two
A.
Jerk
*Set 1 – 3 reps @ 60%
*Set 2 – 2 reps @ 70%
*Set 3 – 2 reps @ 80%
*Sets 4-8 – 1 rep @ 90+%
Rest as needed

B.
Every 2 minutes, for 10 minutes (5 sets):
Back Squat
*Set 1 – 10 reps @ 60%
*Set 2 – 8 reps @ 65%
*Set 3 – 6 reps @ 70%
*Set 4 – 6 reps @ 75%
*Set 5 – 6 reps @ 80%

C.
Five sets of:
Unsupported Seated Shoulder Press x 5 reps @ 2111
(sit on a bench without back support, and overhead press as much as you can for 5 reps)
Rest 2-3 minutes

D.
Every minute, on the minute, for 16 minutes (8 sets of each):
Minute 1 – 2 Legless Rope Climbs OR 1 Legless Rope Climb + 1 Rope Climb (w/legs)
Minute 2 – 10 Push Press (115/75 lbs)

16.2 again. Went lot better on my pace for the first round could break 5s on TTB for the second round (5:40 finished TTB), but then tripped a lot on the DU’s and finished at 7:33. 168. 1 rep less than Friday. Incredibly disappointed that all went as planned but DUs got me. Had legs but no time for the cleans, ug.

Yepp. I’ve had on and off trap pain since before wodapalooza and the front rack aggravates it. Had it worked on this Saturday but body’s still readjusting.

No redo on 16.2. I’m not at the regional athlete level yet, and this work out is a killer on the body so I didn’t want to shock the body and ruin the training days I have. Also moved the order around a little to be more convenient with my time schedule Session 1 A. 2RM Hang Snatch 240 (PR Baby!!!!!) A2. 1RM Snatch 245 B. Split jerks 3@ 205 / 2 @ 235/ 2 @ 275/ 1 @ 305 (f) *Shoulders are weak today so called it on the jerks and did some light strict press to try and… Read more »

AM Sesh A. Front squat- 5,5,5 at 225,265,285 then Back squat- 5,5 at 315 ***So I walked out 305 for my 4th set, did 1 rep then literally almost blacked out. This happens every once in a while, but today was the worst its ever been. Was shaking and felt like an out of body situation-so weird. Tried to go again and the same thing happened thats why I switched to Back squats- felt fine B. Hang double up to 205 (conservative) threw in some powers as well Snatch- up to 245 miss (very close) midline was not having it… Read more »

Redid 16.2 yesterday afternoon and got 423 reps. Made 2 attempts at 205, but my hips stopped working 🙂 would have liked one rep at 205, but got the extra 75 reps in the next round that I needed!

Will do a mashup of everything this afternoon depending on how it feels… Woke up this morning feeling like I got hit by a truck 🙂

Really focused on those 60 sec T2B rounds and actually came out a minute ahead of my Friday pace by the time I finished the round of 175. Still working that posterior activation on heavy squats and cleans…

Thanks Alan, you too! I would have loved to make just one rep at 275. This time I broke the T2B up more from the start, wore lifting shoes and didn’t wear grips… lol lots of changes. I didn’t feel nearly as crushed as last time.

16.2 got 341. Goal was to get 2 reps at 175. Picked up the bar for first rep at 175 and it didn’t move haha. Waited a few seconds and got 1 rep at 175. Happy with this! Did my very best. Kept my breathing under control and mind focused.

After Thursday’s I had virus in my stomach, I did only test and finished the 225 in time.
Today I had almost 2:45 sec to hit 275 and I managed to hit only 1 from 3 try’s, Everything else was easy and went like I planned but I’m so disappointed !!! ?
