PROGRAM NOTES – On Monday’s during the Open, we generally have three different scenarios that we’re dealing with:
(1) You will be performing the Open workout for the second attempt on Monday. If this is you, follow the plan set forth for last Friday – warm-up, Open event, cool down. If you want some additional work, my suggestion is that you hit a low to moderate intensity run or Assault Bike session. Look to spend 20-40 minutes moving at a pace that feels sustainable. Use the time to clear your mind as well as aid in recovery.
(2) You performed the Open event on Friday and Sunday. If this is you, follow Saturday’s workout – the one you missed because you were resting up to repeat the Open on Sunday.
(3) You were “one and done” with the Open on Friday, or don’t really care how you rank in the Open. If this is you, perform the following…but listen to your body! If you’re sore or tight anywhere, I would strongly suggest avoiding any movement or loading that could potentially exacerbate the issue.
Workout of the Day
A.
Three sets, not for time, of:
Press in Snatch x 5 reps
Legless or Standard Rope Climb x 1-2 ascents
Handstand Walk x 10 Meters
B.
Every two minutes, for 20 minutes (10 sets):
High Hang Snatch + 2 Overhead Squats
Build to today’s heavy, based on feel and mechanics.
C.
Every 2 minutes, for 10 minutes (5 sets):
Back Squat x 3 reps @ 75-80% (based on feel)
D.
Complete as many rounds and reps as possible in 12 minutes of:
50 Double-Unders
15 Burpee Box Jump-Overs or Step-Overs (24″/20″)
15 Strict Handstand Push-Ups
(50-59 – use a 2″ Riser; 60+ – use a 4″ riser)

TTB All singles but first set 15 UB (do not come off bar) then 54321. Stayed close to this and it worked really well for me. Just did not stop moving. Fast transitions to DL & snatch. Plus the Invictus mindset is a great read!!! I highly recommend it!!! Thank you!!!

B. Open workout today 180/125. Couldn’t get the Jerk up today at 135#. Beyond bummed. Huge weakness and not addressing it. At least I got in a good workout because I had to take my first scores from Friday. This put me waaaaayyy down the leader board. It’s a fight from here. Great job everyone!! So proud!!

Hey Christine, I know exactly how you feel! We have a hole to dig out of now. Nice work on the metcon, don’t let the c&j completely distract you from your stellar metcon performance!! We obviously have a glaring weakness and it bit us and it hurts for sure. Everyone loves a good comeback story….let’s see we can write one! Get healthy and let’s put a hurtin on week 2.

Great job on the triplet Christine. HQ threw a curve ball at us with the one rep. Max. I wasn’t thrilled with it either. But don’t let it get you down. If the goal is to return to the Games everything will come down to the Masters Qualifiers next month. Your cumulative score in the Open only counts for 1/5 of the MQ. We have a long way to go. By the way, I finished 137th in 14.3 last year and still managed to finish 16th in the Open. You will work your back up the leader board. Keep Charging!

Smashed my right middle finger Sun moving 50# DBs in the back of my truck. Took on 6 stitches on the pad of my finger…thankfully, I was on the board with scores. Clearly laying off bar/barbell/pressing work until I have to.
