Invictus Weightlifting Team Members First Competition

Next weekend on August 27th up in Oceanside, our downtown Olympic Weightlifting team is set to compete in the first annual Pacifico Barbell Summer Meet! All of the competing athletes are first-timers, which is exciting.
Alison Chambers is already qualified for the US Masters Championships coming up in December, and this will be her first appearance on a weightlifting stage. She set her current competition total in an online qualifier earlier this year in May. Brie Blackstock is set to test her wits on the stage as well. She has been lifting with the OLY team since December of last year when we started the team at the downtown location, and she has made great strides over that time. Her goal is to qualify for the American Open, a two-part competition series that occurs in March and September each year.
Jason Scoville is looking to get his feet wet on the competition stage, and I’m excited for him to put on a singlet and throw some weight around in Oceanside. Last but not least, Veronica Gillespie is testing her mettle as well. She is primarily a CrossFitter with aspirations to go far in the sport, and she realizes the value of different competition settings and is using this experience to improve her mindset. I’m proud of how far she has come and look forward to her continued growth.
